"NICHOLS, RALPH TROY
OCALA - Ralph Troy Nichols passed away in his home March 29, 2011. He was born in Ocala, Florida December 5, 1969. He owned R2 Boats in Ocala, where he worked with his father Leon Nichols, for over 20 years. He was also a professional skydiving instructor.
Ralph, or Troy, as those from childhood still called him, will always be remembered for his exceptional loyalty as a friend. Making others laugh gave him great joy. He loved taking care of people and always placed the needs of others before his own. He was incredibly skilled and could repair almost anything. He was proud of the time he spent working in Iraq as a contractor in 2004-2005. The skydiving community admired "Ralphie" for his skill, dedication, and generosity. He completed over eight thousand jumps and had reached the level of tandem master. Ralph felt at home in "wallowing" in the islands with his friends, barefoot, eating cracked conch. "Magnus" respected the power of "Mother Ocean" and always felt connected to the sea. "Maybe he was a pirate, 200 years too late?"
He was preceded in death by his father Leon, affectionately called Pappy, who lost his battle with cancer in January, 2011. His mother lives in Ocala and his sister lives in Atlanta. He is survived by his family, which to him included all of the friends who were part of his life.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to either Feral Felines in Chokoloskee, Florida at PO Box 564, Chokoloskee, FL 34138 or Shy Wolf Sanctuary at 1161 27th St. SW, Naples, FL 34117"
